F.A.Q’s & FACTS

A. We recommend that your soft flooring be treated at least every 12 months.  This will extend your soft flooring’s life and protect your family’s health.

Q. Which method of cleaning is better, Hot Water Extraction (Steam Cleaning) or Dry Cleaning?
A. The hot water extraction method is a good way to revitalise and deep clean your carpet. ‘Hot water extraction’ is the correct name for ‘steam cleaning’.
Hot water extraction is a deep clean. Dry Cleaning is a surface Clean. We believe customer satisfaction levels are much higher with Hot water extraction. We believe hot water extraction is a better Clean. Dry Cleaning leaves chemicals on the carpet that may cause re-soiling and could void the manufacturer’s warranty.
The Industry Standards AS/NZS 3733:1995 preferred method to treat soft floorings is the hot water extraction method.

A. We use environmentally safe products for both the client and our technicians to carry out our soft floor treatments.

Q. What are some of the benefits of installing soft flooring over other floorings?
A. Soft floorings represent the best filter for I.A.Q (Indoor Air Quality) issues, provide warmth and comfort, reduces noise, adds beauty and style, softens slips and falls and wears well when properly cleaned and maintained. Soft flooring is also less expensive than other flooring options over time.

Q. What are VOC's (Volatile Organic Compounds)?
A.VOC's are Organic Compounds that contain the element carbon. VOC's evaporate easily at room temperature and often have a sharp smell. Common sources which may emit VOC's into indoor air include housekeeping and maintenance products, office equipment, adhesives, carpeting, upholstery, paints and solvents. In sufficient quantities, VOC's can cause eye, nose, and throat irritations, headaches, dizziness, visual disorders and memory impairment.  Some VOC's can cause cancer in certain situations, especially when they are concentrated indoors.

Mould and VOC misconceptions:  Misconceptions about soft flooring involve mould and the emission of VOCs. In fact, it is very hard to grow mould on your soft flooring. Mould grows in any moist environment where dirt and dust provide nutrients.  When your soft flooring is kept clean and dry, mould simply cannot grow on dry, clean synthetic or wool carpet.

Soft flooring is also wrongly linked to high VOC levels.  Scientific studies show that new soft flooring is one of the lowest emitters of VOCs into the indoor environment, and that these emissions dissipate very quickly.  The low-level VOC emissions and the harmless odour from new soft flooring disappear within the first 48 to 72 hours after installation and even sooner with open windows or doors as per the green star rating.
